Goldin Martinez is an Award-Winning Social Entrepreneur and Founder of GetFocused.org, a nationally recognized youth organization that has empowered over 480,000 young people to read and exercise to enrich their lives.
At 13 years old, Goldin Martinez fell in love with community service thanks to a local organization in his community of Washington Heights called Fresh Youth Initiative. Through the power of community service Goldin learned the importance of giving back and making a difference in the world. Being a servant leader gave Goldin a grand vision. He knew that someday he wanted to start an organization that would not only help, but inspire underprivileged children, empowering them to chase their dreams.
At 18 years old, Goldin discovered a passion for fitness and exercise, noticing a change in not only his physical appearance but in his confidence. Through hard work and dedication, Goldin became a certified personal trainer, a popular fitness model, and quickly became a rising star in the industry. In 2010 at the age of 21, Goldin launched his first organization called Get Focused and it quickly grew into a citywide initiative working with thousands of young people and their families. Since its inception, Get Focused has partnered with prestigious organizations such as the Let’s Move Initiative, Health Corp, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, New Jersey Devils, SOMOS Community Care, and many more to expand the Get Focused program to inner-city communities throughout the country. In 2011, Get Focused was recognized by Good Morning America as one of the "Best Upcoming Youth Organizations" in NYC, and helped the Police Athletic League of New York City earn a $1.2 million dollar grant from Michelle Obama's "Let's Move Initiative" by creating their entire fitness curriculum that was implemented in over 81 sites throughout New York City.
In 2012, Goldin served as a fitness consultant for the Department of Health & Human Services and was honored by Mayor Bloomberg for his achievements as a leader and activist in the community. Through his everlasting devotion to empowering communities Goldin has earned numerous awards and recognitions including winning the Ford Millennial Award for three consecutive years from 2013-2015 and the NY1 New Yorker of the Week award on two separate occasions.
